The Problem
HOAs, condos, and gated villages across the Philippines face a ridesharing problem that public apps like Grab can't solve: trust. Any stranger can sign up and drive on a public platform. For a tight-knit residential community — where members know their neighbors, share common areas, and expect accountability — that's a non-starter.
Community admins were managing informal ride-sharing arrangements through group chats, with no structure, no verification, no accountability, and no visibility. It worked until it didn't — and when it didn't, there was no system to fall back on.
The Gap in the Market:
- Public ride apps have zero community trust controls — anyone can sign up as a driver
- Group chat coordination is unscalable — it breaks down as communities grow
- No operator visibility — community admins had no dashboard to manage rides or verify members
- Cash transactions create friction — disputes, no records, no policy alignment
- No white-label option existed — communities wanting their own branded platform had to fund a $50k–$200k custom build
The Solution: RIDEO
RIDEO is a ride board built exclusively for verified community members. The core insight: you do not need a public platform. You need a private one — geofenced to your community, limited to verified residents, and operated by your own community board.
I designed and built the entire platform from scratch: a passenger app, a driver app, an operator admin portal, and a community portal — all connected through a real-time backend with 60+ RESTful API endpoints.
✓ Verified Members Only
Address proof and selfie review keep board access limited to real local residents. No stranger can join — admins approve every member manually.
✓ Trusted Pickup Hubs
Operators define approved pickup locations — main gate, clubhouse, lobby — instead of random street pickups. Every ride starts from a verified hub.
✓ Cashless Rides
All transactions run through the platform's wallet system. No cash disputes, full transaction history, and policy-aligned payments that the community board can audit.
✓ Operator Dashboard
Community managers get a full operations portal: moderate users, review verifications, manage the ride board, and monitor activity — without needing technical skills.
How It Works
Join Your Community
Sign up and select your residential community. Confirm your address and register with your neighborhood group on the platform.
Get Verified
Submit address proof and a selfie for admin approval. Your community board reviews and approves your profile before you can access the ride board.
Post, Match, Ride
Post your route, match with verified community members going the same direction, and coordinate pickup from a trusted hub — all in-app, cashless.
Tech Stack
Building a ridesharing platform from scratch requires several moving parts operating in sync. Here is what powers RIDEO:
📱 Mobile Apps
Flutter (Dart) for both iOS and Android — a single codebase powering the passenger app and driver app, with native performance and offline capability.
⚙️ Backend API
PHP / CodeIgniter 3 REST API with 60+ endpoints covering auth, trips, payments, verifications, and community management.
📍 Real-Time GPS
Node.js with Socket.IO handles real-time location streaming between passengers and drivers — low-latency, persistent WebSocket connections.
🔔 Notifications
Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications — ride matches, verification approvals, trip updates, and operator alerts delivered instantly.
💳 Payments
In-app wallet with cashless transaction processing, fare rules engine with dynamic pricing, and full transaction history for operators.
🗄️ Database
MySQL with a multi-tenant schema supporting isolated community boards — each HOA or condo runs on the same infrastructure without data bleed.
The Business Model
RIDEO is offered as a licensed SaaS platform — communities and operators can subscribe without funding a custom build. Two tiers:
Annual license, renewable, cancel anytime. Live in 1–2 weeks.
- Passenger & driver mobile apps
- Operator admin portal
- Real-time GPS tracking
- KYC & member verification
Deployed under your brand in 4–8 weeks.
- Everything in Licensed
- Your brand, your domain
- Custom color scheme & logo
- Dedicated infrastructure
vs. Building from Scratch: Custom ridesharing development typically costs $50,000–$200,000+ and takes 6–18 months. RIDEO's white-label cuts that to $12,000 and 4–8 weeks — a 90%+ reduction in both cost and time.

Why This Matters
RIDEO demonstrates what I believe about software: the best product ideas come from real, underserved problems. Community ridesharing is a genuine gap in the Philippine mobility market — and across Asia-Pacific, where gated communities and high-rise condos are the norm, the same gap exists at scale.
Building it as a white-label SaaS — rather than a one-off custom build for a single client — means any HOA, condo association, or village operator in the region can launch their own branded ridesharing platform without the capital requirements of custom development.
-
Full-stack SaaS built solo
Three apps (passenger, driver, operator), a REST API, real-time GPS, KYC workflow, wallet, and push notifications — architected, designed, and shipped by one engineer.
-
Production-ready from day one
The platform is not a prototype. It runs on production infrastructure, supports white-label deployments, and is priced as a recurring revenue SaaS — not a consulting project.
-
Positioned for Asia-Pacific growth
The same model that works for Metro Manila condos works for Kuala Lumpur high-rises, Jakarta gated communities, and Singapore housing estates. The platform is built to scale across the region.
RIDEO is the kind of product that only a full-stack practitioner with real product instincts can ship: a multi-app, real-time, multi-tenant SaaS — built to commercial quality, positioned for a regional market, and available to communities for less than the cost of three months of local driver wages.
